We all know that vintage weddings (or vintage anything!) is a big trend right now. At Priscilla Costa Bridal we were lucky enough to have a bride that put together the most beautiful vintage-chic wedding; Ania Crawford-Capaldo captured the essence of a timeless romantic wedding. Seriously, scrolling through her wedding photo’s was like a Pinterest board coming to life. Through 14 months of planning, Ania married Zack on February 20th 2016 at Pomme in Radnor, Pennsylvania. Take a look at her journey with Priscilla Costa Bridal and how her custom piece played a huge role in her wedding day!
Ania works in New York as a buyer for Boscovs, a large retail company. Through her work she is creative and analytical, and it really showed in all the details of her wedding! Ania met her husband, Zack, on a night out- and they discovered they were both from the same hometown in New Jersey! Things kicked off and after a year of dating Ania knew the relationship was going to be forever. She made the move to the Philadelphia suburbs to be with Zack and was making a long commute to New York for work. Wow, talk about dedication!
After getting engaged, Ania immediately starting thinking about her dress! “Pinterest became my best friend. I was finding so many dresses I liked but I wanted to take different parts of each of them to combine and make my dream dress!” Ania is a perfect example of the kind of brides we love working with, she knows what she wants but won’t settle for a gown. That’s when she remembered one of her friends wedding dress was custom made and she knew that was the path she wanted to go down. Then, the search was underway.
“I found Priscilla Costa on Pinterest, I immediately loved her style. I set up a consultation with her. My mom and I met at her studio in Philadelphia, PA. She had multiple work rooms with tons of spools of laces and chiffons and dress forms everywhere, I was immediately excited. She told me that there would be more dress fittings than normal but we could make a custom dress from scratch! We created our own private Pinterest board so that I could continue to pin my inspiration and note what aspects of the dress I liked.”
Ania and Priscilla sat down and discussed what her ultimate dream gown would look like. Priscilla describes their first meeting as really getting to know Ania. When I asked Priscilla about what her and Ania discussed during that time she said, “She knew what she liked and what she didn’t like and through this I found out who Ania is as a person. She is lovely and creative which got me super excited to work with her. At first she wanted two dresses, one for the reception and one for the ceremony. From there we made a Pinterest and I could finally envision what kind of gown she would be in after really getting to know her style.”
For Ania, the experience was unique and personal. She left that day very excited! “Then two months later she had made sketches for me. I was amazed at her talent, she listened to what I was saying and what I was pinning and the sketches were EXACTLY what I wanted. I then watched this dress go from an idea in my mind, to a sketch, to picking the exact lace that it would be made from. ”
During the second meeting at the bridal shop, Priscilla and Ania went over the defined details of the sketches. Ania opted out for the illusion back and buttons and chose to keep an open back! Instead of having two dresses, Priscilla added a petticoat under the silk chiffon skirt to add volume for the ceremony. Once the reception came, the petticoat was removed for a free flowing and bohemian look.
Priscilla also made Ania’s mantilla style veil and head piece. The lace on her veil is sourced from Israel and the lace on her bodice is sourced from France!
So thank you Ania, for all your kind words. Every detail of your wedding, from the flowers to the cake, has taken our breaths away! It’s truly an honor to make a dress for someone as open to creativity and our design process as you are. Your patience and excitement throughout the step-by-step process made it super enjoyable for Priscilla to create your dream gown! We love to see how it all came together through your gorgeous wedding photo’s shot by With Love and Embers. Best of luck to you and your new hubby!
