Erin Reimel one of our social media interns this summer! She is helping Priscilla Costa Bridal to extend our reach to a wider audience by creating original content for our past, present and future clients.
She admits that she can’t go a day without having a cup of coffee and takes way too many pictures of her black pugs, Hollywood and Alice. She has an addiction to watching Youtube videos and she loves to write.
Erin is going into her junior year at The Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. She studies Magazine Journalism with a concentration in Fashion and Beauty Communications and a minor in Information Management and Technology.
Erin knew she wanted to write about women’s fashion from the time she was in eighth grade. She wrote a research paper about women’s fashion of the 1930s. As she researched everything from millinery to nylon, she fell in love with fashion and writing all at once. Her teacher wrote on her paper, “I could see you writing for a fashion magazine.”
And she was hooked.
She hopes to work as a Beauty Editor at a magazine and loves the idea of empowering women to look and feel their best. She plans to focus on the effects the media has on the beauty ideal as well as issues like disordered eating. After going to all-girls high school and joining a sorority, Erin sees the importance of inspiring young women to love themselves inside and out.
She chose to minor in IT because she is excited about where the internet is taking the communications industry and hopes to learn more about online content, although print will always hold a special place in her heart.
The online aspect of social media played a major role in Erin’s decision to apply for an internship here at Priscilla Costa Bridal. One of her favorite aspects of the job is writing the weekly blog which she posts every Thursday.
“I love taking on the different voice of a bridal atelier. The best part is when I get to share our clients’ stories. I love recreating a story from different points of view to paint a picture for the readers.”
“I’ve learned so many new skills while working with Priscilla, from working closely with a WordPress site to strategizing posts to be more effective. I learn something new every day, and no day at the atelier is the same.”
“I’m so proud of the following we’ve gained since I started working here. Keeping a consistent online presence is so important now and I’m excited to be a part of a team that can keep the business so tech-friendly and modern.”
As the summer winds down, Erin’s semester abroad in London draws closer. We hate to see her go, yet we are so excited to see what projects she has coming up!
