When Christmas comes to mind, we usually think of Santa Claus, festivities, decorations, and of course, presents. It’s easy to get carried away during the Holidays with shopping and gifts, but when it comes down to the wire, we all know that love is the most important part of it all.
Priscilla has experienced the familiar stress of last minute shopping for years. In fact, she hated shopping, but still wanted to express the love she had for the people she cared about. One Christmas she thought, why not just make her own presents? Rather than spending pocket money on expensive and materialistic things, three years ago, she began the tradition of making her own gifts. This way, the gift is more personalized and meaningful.
This year Priscilla hand sewed a bundle of her signature Fuxico flowers in a variety of different colors. The flowers were sewed onto hand towels and then placed into cute little mason jars. As a result, she was able to create something personalized, useful, and priceless all in one. The very best part was that it came from the heart, which is what Christmas is all about. It’s the thought going into your gifts that counts, whether it’s a handmade gift or a homemade meal.
What Priscilla realized was how handmade gifts never become ordinary. These are keepsakes that will never be thrown away, since they have sentimental value. Several years later, she still sees her sister wearing the scarf she knitted and her mother using the towel she decorated.
Taking the time to create presents for your loved ones makes gifting so special. We hope our DIY gave you a few ideas for your very own gifts, and we would love to hear some of your Holiday traditions and gift ideas! Merry Christmas!
