Sarah Shultz is one of our fabulous Social Media Interns this summer and she has been providing our followers with everything from updates on what is happening in the atelier on Facebook to wedding inspiration on Twitter.
Sarah admits that after updating social media, her favorite pastimes are sleeping and eating. She loves going to the beach and binge-watching National Geographic Wild, HGTV and The Food Network.
Don’t you love her selfie?
Sarah is going into her sophomore year at Ithaca College, majoring in Emerging Media (a mix of computer science, television, radio and film) with a minor in Web Development.
With all her work in the media, Sarah is working towards a job as an Art Director in the television and film industry. She hopes to travel for her work rather than sit at a computer all day, so a position where she can work on location, like at National Geographic, is her dream.
She decided to apply for a social media internship here at Priscilla Costa Bridal because she wanted to work somewhere small, knowing she would get plenty of hands-on experience – something interns at bigger corporations may not get the opportunity to have.
“Since I met Priscilla herself, I knew I would always be in direct contact with her instead of a secretary or something,” she said, which she has found to be completely accurate.
“I love the feel of the quaint shop and how everything feels so personal,” she says about her experience so far. “Figuring out how to tailor posts for each social media outlet is actually more calculated and requires more planning than I thought it would.”
Sarah has really enjoyed learning how to create posts for a business rather than only for her personal accounts. Her best feeling comes when her Facebook posts gain a lot of attention, making her feel accomplished and proud of her work.
One of Sarah’s most exciting projects is our new YouTube channel. She filmed and edited a tutorial to show our clients how to fasten different kinds of wedding bustles. We think it turned out beautifully and can be seen here.
Sarah loves all the design information she has picked up since working at the atelier. “I knew nothing about wedding dresses until I helped take photos and write short descriptions of different dresses and materials.”
She also finds it so interesting to see how small and personal a business can be. “I enjoy just watching how Priscilla interacts with clients and it’s fun to watch the fittings. I’m always learning something new and having a lot of fun at the same time.”
We are so lucky to have such a creative and inspired intern with us here at Priscilla Costa Bridal and cannot wait to see where her talent takes her!
