With the spring season just around the corner and the Philadelphia Flower Show approaching this coming weekend, March 5th to the 13th, we can’t help but feel super inspired here at Priscilla Costa Bridal. Flowers have been our specialty since the early days and we’d love to share with you some awesome ways to incorporate our own Fuxico flowers into your wedding dress, bridesmaid’s dress, or any dress. It will transform any ordinary look into something fun, creative, and super unique.
We work so closely with our brides, which caused us to spot two emerging bridal trends. Playful and 3-D floral embellishments are two super hot trends for spring this year. Our Fuxico flowers are making a huge come back at our atelier.
First, let me introduce you to the Fuxico Flowers. Priscilla started out by making Fuxicos from silk fabric. The attraction to the craft came from a blouse from Brazil that was given to her as a gift from her mother in law that was full of Fuxico flowers. Before she even knew how to sew, she was experimenting and manipulating silk fabric to make these beautiful creations.
The original craft, also known as yoyo flowers, often uses bold printed textiles that leave a puffy effect. However, Priscilla opts for solid colors and silk fabrics that can be pressed flat, just to add the right amount of texture that keeps the overall look sleek. They are simple to make, and can be added to any look in endless ways. Here are a few examples on how our brides are using our Fuxico flowers:
Color Accent:
We want to help you bring your wedding colors to life! Here, the shoulder of the gunmetal colored dress was accented with minimal off-white Fuxico flowers. On the elegant off-white wedding dress, a belt with clusters of off-white and gunmetal fuxico’s were accompanied with Swarovski crystals. Brides have the option of adding Fuxico details on the shoulder(s), strap(s), or back of a dress. The detail can be added symmetrically or asymmetrically and we adapt to the taste of the bride.

Fuxico’s cover the shoulder of our gunmetal bridesmaid dress and our beautiful wedding dress is completed with a belt full of Fuxico’s.

The gunmetal and white Fuxico flower belt work perfectly with the sweetheart neckline and full skirt wedding dress.
Added Texture:
Adding Fuxico flowers of different sizes and colors can add texture or dimension to any dress or accessory.

The white Fuxico flowers with pearl accents works so well with this straight across top wedding dress that has a full tulle skirt.
Detail Accent:
Deeper color tones, sizes, and shapes can be added to any strap, shoulder, or back to create a dramatic and intricate detail. For this dress, multi-colored and different sized fuxico’s were added to one shoulder of the dress along with pearl accents.
Finishing Touch:
A mix of chiffon and Swarovski Fuxico embellishments added to the waist of our blush high-low-hem dress adds a splash of romance to this modern dress.
Hair Accessories:
Our Fuxico’s are not confined to dresses only; they make astonishing hair accessories too. Here is a sample that we carry at our atelier.
The main idea is to have fun with the Fuxico’s in order to add personality and a unique touch to any dress or accessory while keeping up with the fashion forward trends of spring.
At our atelier we carry loose Fuxico flowers of many colors, sizes, and shapes ready to be pinned on any dress for our brides to envision a final look. Fuxico’s are easy to make and customize.
We have them ready for you, but if you are crafty here is a tutorial on how to make them:
